Why We Design With Lab Grown Diamonds

Let's start with the important bit: we love diamonds. All of them. Lab grown, natural, big, tiny, the lot. There's a time and a place for both, and how a piece makes you feel matters far more than where its sparkle was born.

But lab grown diamonds have been part of Sorsa from the very beginning, and people often ask why. So here's our answer.

We were always believers

We never needed convincing. From our first designs, lab grown diamonds felt like the most exciting thing to happen to fine jewellery in a generation: real diamonds, grown above the ground instead of beneath it.

And they are real. Pure crystallised carbon, with all the fire, brilliance and hardness of a diamond formed in the earth. They're cut by the same hands, graded against the same standards, and impossible to tell apart by eye. The only difference is the birthplace.

Are lab grown diamonds real diamonds? Yes. They're pure crystallised carbon, exactly like natural diamonds, with the same brilliance, fire and hardness. They're graded by the same laboratories against the same standards. The only difference is where they grew.

Can you tell a lab grown diamond from a natural one? Not by eye. Even a jeweller needs specialist equipment and a grading certificate to know a diamond's origin. On your hand, in the light, they're identical.
